Hi everyone, I play BF2 and CSS and want to start using a microphone to communicate with the other players.

So what I want is a quality microphone which will rest near my mouth, BUT I don't need great headphones as I will use my existing speakers for sound.

I plan to have the headphones hanging round my neck and the microphone pointing at my mouth.
But it's hard to tell from pictures if the microphones are that adjustable.

It would be a real help if you have a headset to try out my method and seeing if the microphone is close enough to work.

I want to spend £15-£30 on something quality, rather than a cheapo low quality product.

Any information/feedback/recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I bought a Labtec "neck" microphone - which rests around your neck and has a mic on a flexible arm to place near your mouth - or wherever you speak from!

About £20 a few years ago.

EDIT - model LVA7370

I bought the Plantronics DSP-400 for £29.00 which I would definitely recommend. Both sound and speech are excellent - my friends have remarked the quality is as clear as through a landline!

However, it's of the conventional 'over-the-head' design - in which case, maybe check out the Plantronics .Audio70? It is cheaper at around £18, looks slightly different, but lacks digital signal processing.

Hope this helps

maybe one of those desk mounted mics would be better if your using the speakers. They have a base with a button on and a long neck to the mic.

The medusas are good for surround sound etc but a bit big to wear round the neck to use the mic on its own.

I've got a pair of Icemat Siberias, the sound is pretty good for music, not sure about games.

They may not be that great for you if you want the mic close to your mouth though, because the mic and headset lines are separate (great for me because i dont use the mic), but there is a series of catches on an extension wire that can hold them together very well. However, to have the mic close to your mouth, you'd either need to shorten the headset line (just fold it up and hold in place with the plastic coated wire, just like how it is out the box), or clip the mic to your lip.
// end bad explanation

So i'd recommend a headset where the mic extends out from one of the earpieces.
