headset volume issues with w800i

I recently got myself a w800i on orange (firmware R1N035) and im finding the volume of the headset (when someone rings me and im listening to them) to be ridiculously low, to the point that i dont even bother trying talk back unless im in an empty room with no backgrond noise, i just tell them to text me :/

I'm aware that the latest firmware R1AA008 and that it upgrades the volume of the headset in that firmware.. but this isnt available on orange yet. My question is, is anyone on orange and on the same firmware having the same issues with headset volume? or is it just my phone thats the problem and should i just take it back to orange to get it checked out?

Although the new firmware (I'm on O2) did make the call volume (and speaker/headphone volume too) much louder, I personally never had a problem with the call volume, even on a busy street.

I suggest you 1) make sure there is no crap stuck in the 3 holes on the top front of the phone and if not then 2) flash to the latest firmware for Orange (R1NA005) which will increase the volume slightly. If neither work then 1) take it to Orange and complain or 2) flash the phone to R1AA008 yourself. Doing so will loose the Orange branding, but also void your warranty.
 
Haha the problem was that i kept the original cover thing that protects the screen on the phone, which also happened to cover the 3 holes where the sound came out. I have replaced it with the martin fields screen protector which does not cover the holes (and is a really decent screen protector if anyone is looking for a good one). I thought it might have been the problem but i really didnt expect it to be that much of an impact to the volume :/

Its fine right now, volume is just about right.. could still do with a slight volume increase so waiting for new firmware still :)
