Headset with microphone (or suggestions)

I got the Elara clip on mic for a fiver and I have to say its very poor unless I clip it on my old mic boom then its ok but anywhere its its like you are muffled talking in comparison.

Got the same mic sitting 3 feet away on top of my monitor and it picks up everything very clearly.

Hmm.. hugely varying then.... Perhaps McMav has a lot of background noise?
