Hi, I am thinking of buying a headset, but I am confused between the medusa 5.1 ProGamer edition and the Sennheiser PC-160 Pro gaming headphones. Anyone?

Forget the medusa's mate, had 2 sets and their pants tbh any mobile device near them or wireless and they buzz like mad, their a mare to set-up and poor build tbh!!

Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm going for the Sennheiser HD555's as I have an Creative XFi Xtreme card and according to the reviews I've read their very good sound quality and are great for hearing the enermy in game, and all the other sounds are clear as a bell..

I'm steering clear of so called surroundsound headsets now tbh, I have ordered the HD555 from an auction site £60 delivered, should be here for the weekend..!! :D

Yea but I want one with a microphone Lol, to be able to chat. I don't think HD555 comes with one or am I wrong?

Thats for the link mate. But I don't like small headsets like plantronic's. I like those with big ear muffs really, for example, medusa 5.1 pro gramer edition. I have always thought that Medusa is a pretty good brand for headsets but I see more people recommending sennheiser. Have any of you tried the Sennheiser PC160 before?

Just bang Sennheiser PC160 reviews into Google mate there's lots there to read up on I'm sure :)

I'll let you know what the HD555's are like compaired to my 5.1 Medusa later this week

Edit: Guys I have read in places that the HD555's need some sort of burn it time to get the best sounds?? i.e. play some loud'ish music through them for 12hrs when you first get them ..??

Is this correct?

Lol, I read a review on tomshardware. The PC160 doesn't fare well at all, instead the Medusa 5.1 gets pretty good review. Now I am inclined to get Medusa...

TBH they are comfortable even for long periods and positioning in game is very good (with me XFi Xtreme that is) but my first set had a floppy mic...lol no jokes pls and the replacements I got are fine other than the buzzing which can be reduced be turning the cord volumes down and the amp volume back up and also the buzzing from mobiles and wireless products........

Only had the new set 4 months but if the HD555's perform well the Medusa's will be sold off!!

I'm going to be getting the HD555s and a desktop microphone. So much easier in the long run especially when switching from speakers to headset and vice versa

Fair play!!

Didn't I see in another thread that you had just brought some other surroundsound headset though?

Maybe I'm wrong :) it's been known

What sound card will you be using with your HD555's may I ask?

I bought them a while back. I'm just not very pleased with them.

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd hand X-Fi or just using my integral sound.
