Headsets with PS4 Slim

Usually I use speakers but at times I need headphones, which brings me to this topic...

The only surround headphones I have at present are some old analog Roccat Kaves. I could get an HDMI>5.1 analog audio extractor but I'm still going to be £40 to do that and have cables everywhere to boot.

There's no shortage of offerings for wireless surround sound headphones for PS4, mainly from Turtle Beach and Astro. All good there. I'm aware though that the Slim won't have an optical port, so which offerings out there still provide surround sound on a slim? Interestingly Turtle Beach make the amusing statement that Model "x" still works with PS4 slim, but "will lose surround sound functionality". Well that's slightly missing the point then isn't it...

Anyways, the question stands, what are some good surround sound wireless headphones (with mic) that work on a PS4 slim please.

Thanks, I've read mixed views about how good the surround is on them though, which is pretty key for me. Might have to find somewhere to try them for myself...
 
surround sound headphones are the biggest gimmick of all. Go into sound city section of forums if you don't believe me and ask in there.

What you want is a decent pair of stereo headphones which suit gaming and then use a decent amp to drive them.

Head-Fi gaming section may have the answer you are looking for.
