Ok, so after looking at the thread on GD about heart rates im thinking that maybe I should put my Garmin trip computer to proper use.

It has a heart rate monitor, which all works fine and dandy, and I have set up the basic values so the different zones can be displayed. Now if I want to increase my edurance, should I try to keep my heart rate in zone 4 for as long as possible?

Its a garmin edge 305 by the way.

Daft question, as I have never really paid much attention to proper training. I just tend to go out and try to complete the route in a fast a time as possible.

For endurance you want to remain in your aerobic zone, which on my 305 is zone 3, not sure how the 305 calculates zones but I think all it needs is heart rate max. I stay within 70 to 75% of my heart reserve (calculated from HRmin & HRmax) for steady state endurance runs.

If you want to get faster then you need to add sessions in zone 4 and 5 to anaerobically and increase lactate threshold.
