I took delivery of one of the 24in DGM monitors on special offer today.
Set it up and its was all working fine, no dead pixels etc etc but after it running for a short period of time, maybe 2 hours or so I went to re adjust it and it felt extremely hot to the touch, the heat is mainly coming from the top half of the panel it's self

I took a reading with an IF therm and the temp was around 44-49C at the top and 35-38C at the bottom with the room temp is 25C, is this kind of temp normal? as I have never noticed it will my other monitors.

Mines quite warmish also

Gotta remember how many doo-dahhs are on this size of panel

I have a cunning plan though

Might try rigging some small fans under my hole'y metal top desk (tops is all covered in punched holes)

Just enough voltage to run em nice n quiet and the updraft should aid airflow at back of monitor lol

My very old 19" gericom from a cheap well known food store was pretty hot too

On a hot summers day....my two dell 2007WFP's get pretty warm too. I wouldn't worry about it. You could always turn your brightness down a little ;)

You could if it had an adjustable backlight. Anyway like fobose says don't worry about it, just make sure air can get to the vents. My HDTV gets very hot too (also 500 cd/m2).

My Hazro can get quite toasty too. That's good though, it means the heat is being radiated away from the panel itself. In Hazro's case the monitor enclosure is actually one big passive aluminium heatsink. I believe the power supply is inside the OcUK value monitor so that will also add a lot more heat to the proceedings.

thanks for the input, just had to put in for an RMA for a replacement or refund, the temp keep rising and it ended up like been sat infront of a sunbed while as someone melted plastic over it.
Oh well back down to the 22in for the time being, it's a real same as it was a great monitor in every other way.

it's not melted but a very weird smell coming from the vents on top and the temp of the panel and top was very hot, so turned it off to be on the safe side.
