Our vented dryer has gone kaput after 10+ years and I'm considering a heat pump dryer. With young kids we get through A LOT of washing so I'm attracted by the energy savings, but I've also heard stories of 3 hour drying times and reliability

Any real life recommendations, are they worth the extra investment?

no idea if its worth the extra cost, but we've had a bosch one for about a year and its been great. it gets used a lot, and i think it uses less electricity than the ancient dryer it replaced.

Yes they are mega. I use mine for absolutely everything. It's on at night for cheap leccy, it's basically indecipherable in our bills it uses so little. Takes way longer but nothing shrinks because it doesn't get hot enough. Just do a wash at like 5pm then whack it in on time delay.

Blue light card or perks At work you get Samsung special pricing.

Love them. Have an lg model Wouldn't get any other type of drier tech tbh. Nice clean install and energy efficient. Just don't get the cheapest, try get one with smart auto features that weigh the load.

Gadget show on channel 5 reviewed three heat pump dryers, it’s on YouTube take alook.

The hotpoint came out really good better than a £900 Samsung.

I haven’t got one but I’m tempted to sell my condenser dryer and buy a heat pump dryer.

I got a heat pump dryer to replace our condensing dryer as my wife likes to use it a lot in the winter as we are a family of five so a lot of washing and drying. The old condensing one was horrendous for electricity but the heat pump one is so much better and uses significantly less, it'll pay for itself in no time.

For the kids clothes our Horpoint has been amazing. Yes it takes around 2-3 hours depending on the load, but it doesnt shrink clothes like our old one and the energy cost is less than 1/4 of our old condenser.

It does take noticeably longer for larger loads like towels and bedding but if you do an extra spin cycle in the washer before drying it really helps.

Ours has a rapid cycle too which basically acts like an older condenser and gets a lot hotter, but the trade off is higher energy consumption.

Don't forget to factor where the dryer will sit.

Had a Beko heatpump one for about 5 years. Yes it takes longer than a normal condenser one. This is because it doesn't get as hot, which is also great for not ruining clothes. We dry everything in it, even if it says not to tumble dry.

We got a Bosch from AO when our condenser went pop a few weeks ago. The much slower drying times take some getting used to but it uses very little power.
