Heat sensors for displays

Why are heat sensors not included as standard for displays (particularly laptop screens)? Your computer monitors the temperature of other components, like the CPU, to prevent damage from overheating but I've never used a computer that does the same thing for displays. Aren't they just as vulnerable to heat damage, particularly if left in direct sunlight for extended periods of time? I'm always careful not to leave my laptop in direct sunlight for too long but it would be nice to know that my computer is monitoring this as well.
