Me and my girlfriend live in a rather small two bed new build.
Ultimately there's not a lot of drying space, and with the weather a lot of drying ends up being done inside on an airer.

She's recently complained at how long drying takes. (A tumble dryer is out of the question, although would have been nice to have built in) so I had considered one of these ; http://www.lakeland.co.uk/24909/Dry:Soon-Deluxe-3-Tier-Heated-Airer along with the cover.

Has anyone got an experience with them? Our current energy tarrif gives us free electricity on Saturdays till 5PM from 9AM so I'd just abuse it then.

Regards,

I have one with the cover, its no good without the cover!
Don't let things hang under the lower level either, they won't dry.
We do 4 hours, but it won't make it bone dry, we leave it covered till its cooled, then uncover to finish drying by air.
We also bought a timer, one that does 2,4,6,8 hrs.

We got the exact one you linked to. I haven't ever had much chance to use it but the wife is very happy with it. We'd prefer a tumble dryer but just don't have the space.

Better off buying a normal airer and stick a dehumidifier next to it.

Why? They are noisy and need emptying and if it needs two days as someone else said, that's going to cost more.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Just noticed you said 5pm to 9am free elec, thought it said 5pm to 9pm. Whack it on for 8 hours, that will dry it

Regards,

The missus bought the smaller version of that about 3 weeks ago, and has used it a few times. It dries clothes about 60-70% faster in our experience. The cover is needed/recommended because it keeps the warmth in.
Some moisture escapes, so a window needs to be opened slightly to avoid condensation.

We have a washer/drier, but the missus insists that her clothes cannot go through the drier. In the winter months, we previously aired clothes on a normal airer/clothes horse with a dehumidifier removing moisture from the air - took a couple of days to dry, some times more, depending on what was drying.

As for costs to run, I would imagine it’s negligible. I have yet to get any like for like bills to compare. I think it’s worth it regardless, because I am not running the dehumidifier for days on end.

With my dehumidifier, I can have most clothes on an airer virtually bone dry overnight - obviously thicker items, such as towels, will need a little longer.

My washing machine spins at 1,600rpm, so this is probably a significant factor in my drying time. If your machine only spins at 1,000rpm, then it won't spin as much moisture out.
