It's one of those things you get used to having and never ask if a car has them or not but mine hasn't , this morning suddenly reminded me to sort something out.

It's a 2 hr job for Toyota plus £30 for the materials.

Is there anything I could try, I thought of RainX however some have said it makes it worse.

Any bodgy ideas or shall I just suck it up and pay for it or put up with not seeing anything for hours.

Problem with heated mirrors is that they never clear quick enough anyway, so you may as well carry an old (clean) rag and an old credit card in the car.

Was it frosty?!

I have heated mirrors (All weather pack) but rather hilariously I'll never need them, maybe 1 day a year when it gets close to freezing :D

Heated window wiper spots on the windscreen too

Both my Cupra and the misses Fabia clear in minutes. Just wish for heated windscreen.

If you use them than its a job worth while doing.

The drivers side on the M3 has stopped working so going to need to dig into it. Hoping its just the glass as you can get it for £12 on ebay.

As for your Toyota maccapacca you can convert them pretty easy depending on Model as I made them heated on the prius as they where set up like that everywhere but Britain :(

Tried using my heated mirrors, which operate together with the rear screen heater, yesterday and it turns out I have developed a short on it somewhere in the system. Killed my battery, without clearing the mist, to the extent that my power steering switched off (power saving mode?) just as I was arriving at work. Not enough juice to restart the car at that stage.

Fortunately, the battery recovered enough to get moving at home time, and recharged on the drive home. Will need to investigate the short at the weekend.

Sounds more like a charging problem I would have thought.

Any "Short" severe enough to overwhelm the alternators charging ability while actually driving would have made the car melt!

I may be wrong, but the battery has charged back up now and is all fine. I'm a bit nervous of trying the heater again before I've investigated, though.

When turning it on, I got no heat in the rear window or wing-mirrors, and the light on the button started flashing after a few minutes. At which point I pressed it off and on again, and repeated a few times on the trip.

The battery is probably a bit old (certainly, I've not replaced in 2.5 yrs of ownership). Might be an early warning of needing replacement.
