Heath Ledger...Dead

So he took loads of prescription drugs and died yet it's accidental? Just how does one accidentally take all those drugs, given the fact that they're prescription and no doubt come with warnings.

accidental overdose = suicide TBH

Im off to "accidentally" shoot myself in the head

How could anyone think its a good idea to mix that many pills:confused:

I've been on 6-8 different prescription drugs at the same time at a few points in my life- at times it wasnt unusual to take around 25 pills a day- all of which on doctor/specialist advice. However, I don't think I would consider taking sleeping pills/further painkillers ontop of them...

A Moronic comparison.

I feel this was a momentary lack of judgement (sleeping pills / painkillers are often taken without much thought) in a hectic lifestyle that ultimately lead to a tragic end :(

Quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read.

Apparently he was suffering from lack of sleep, so took sleeping pills, along with prescribed medication from his doctor. This obviously proved a fatal combination. This seems to be a genuine mistake, and therefore not suicide. It's hardly the same as shooting yourself in the head, is it?

Quite easy to see how this was an accidental overdose.

Doxylamine is an anti-allergy pill, while Alprazolam is an anti-depressant. Taking both at once is not unusual. Hydrocodone and Oxycodone are both painkillers which carry a risk of chemical dependence. Diazepam and Temazepam are both powerful soporifics. The evidence points to a man suffering from depression, sleeping problems, and chronic pain.

All of these drugs are prescription-only, so at some point his doctor must have felt it necessary to prescribe them. Most of them can be combined without danger. Ledger was obviously careless (or didn't care?) and took too many at the same time; perhaps as the result of dependency.

He said while no medications were taken in excess, his son's death "serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage".

"While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy."

[...]

The pain killers, oxycodone and hydrocodone are opiates, which are dangerous when combined with anti-anxiety medicines like diazepam, alprazolam and temazepam.

ABC.

So it was just an ill-judged combination.
