Hi,

Flying out from Heathrow soon and am travelling from manchester by train to get there.

Train tickets to the underground station are only around £20 each way, which seems pretty cheap.

I just need to know is it easy to get to terminal 3 from the underground station ZHJ?

This is opposed to paying about £50 each way for straight to the terminal.

+ any general heathrow tips?

Cheers

Yeah it is easy, it's a walk through the tunnels that run under the terminals, and not a huge walk either. There is no 'straight to the terminal', you end up more or less in the same place whether you go Heathrow Express/ connect or the Underground.

Bear in mind you will be coming in on the Piccadilly line which is SLOW going to LHR.

General Heathrow tips- it's an airport, just like any other. It's big, and full of shops and very busy- enjoy.

Terminal 1,2 and 3 are all within walking distance. It's only few minutes walk at most from underground station. This is what I remember when I last time went to Heathrow by underground many years ago.

Yep this...its Terminal 4 and 5 that are a bit far off from the 3 other terminals.

Do not use the Underground to get to Heathrow. Seriously, don't. It isnt that cheap - probably adding about 4-5 quid to your ticket - for a start.

Secondly, it takes OVER AN HOUR to get from Central London to Heathrow on the Underground. They are also pretty scabby trains.

The absolute best way to get to Heathrow is via Heathrow Express which takes just 20 minutes from Paddington. However at 17 quid it's far from a bargain.

Enter the best option - Heathrow Connect. Heathrow Connect also goes from Paddington and uses the exact same route as Heathrow Express. But it stops at 2 places along the way and therefore takes an extra 5 minutes.

But.. it's almost HALF the price of Heathrow Express and only a bit more than using the Underground, but is way better.

Agreed with Foxy - best way. Good post. :)

Though I always get a minicab, but it's only £40 from my house and it's easier for me.

cheers for the info guys, ive just bought my ticket

First class train window seat to euston then tube to heathrow - £25

first class hopefully makes up for the grimey choooob

cheers for help guys :P

Just make sure you allow a lot of time - there's lots of annoying people that like to throw themselves in front of trains at the moment, and the picklewilly line is slooooow - as is the rest of the tube really.
