Hi all,

My heating stopped working today and i have no idea why, i was hopeing someone here might know what the issue is?

I have a combi boiler and for some reason it has stopped heating and pumping the water around the rads, It works fine with the hot water though? yesterday it happened but i just turned it off and back on again and all was fine, this did not work today.

Any idea's

Suspect water heating pump.

But then the hot water wouldn't work. It uses the same pump for both on a combi.

As for the OP: it depends entirely on which boiler you have, it could be a number of things. Unless you've set the timer wrong then it's unlikely to be anything you can fix yourself.

On the plus side, the fact that the boiler works for hot water implies that nothing very major is wrong. The repair will probably not be hideously expensive.

It really does depend on what make and model of boiler you have. Some have diverter valves, others dont. Some have two pumps, but most have one.. For someone qualified it should be pretty straight forward to fix your boiler..

PS. If you have a battery powered digistat, try new batteries....Have seen that 'problem' a few too many times :)

Sorry, my mistake. My combi has a seperate pump for hot water and centra heating and when our central heating failed but the boiler still did hot water, it was the pump which was faulty.

As said though, it varies so much between combi boilers so can be anything but at least it's heating so likely to be a cheap repair.

Mine only uses the pump for the rads, hot water just uses mains pressure. It has 2 heat exchangers to do it tho, if I turn the hot water on below the detection threshold while the heating is on, I get super hot water :)
Not meaning to hijack, but anyone know how to get trapped air out of a heat exchanger?

I've had this problem with a Worcester\Bosch combi boiler. It was the diverter valve. A soaking with WD40 sorted it out.

This was 2 years ago and its still woking.
