A thin tube is needed, like a straw from a cup drink or similar. This will help you thread the sleeving over the wires, if not they will snag on the 'flags' on the pins. You can buy threading tools but I just grab a handful of tiny drinks straws when I'm at my local.

It's easy to do paracord heatshrinkless, cut it so that it's nearly touching the 2 prongs that stick up on the pin, then just use a lighter so that it melts the paracord and pinch it with your finger...

DON'T go any further than the 2 prongs else you won't be able to get the pin back into the connector.

Simples.

That's a good idea Davido, never thought of it been fabric it will snag a lot more.
Thanks for heads up :)

i use snake skin/paracord for work all the time on cat5 etc but never had the guts to try it on the smaller psu cables think i might try tbh, thanks for the tip on the straw.

just started this and the one tip i have it but a box of paper clips, because the tool for pcie is poo. i spent 40mins on a 6 pin and only get 4 out. paper clip and job dont in 10mins
