hi guys
i want to change my stock heatsink and fan from my amd x2 4800

the one that comes on it it pretty basic and i am looking for an upgrade that will be more efficiant at keeping my cpu at a good temp.

its an am2 socket

can anyone suggest one

£30 ish max

if its compatible with u;re mobo and will fit in you're case have a look at :

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)

i just checked
that fts my mobo but wont go in my case
is there anything a bit smaller that anybody can reccomend

its a bit more than the £30 you mentioned but you could look at :

Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) £38

other alternative :

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler £17

if those still look to big might be an idea to give people an idea of how much height you have, low profile coolers like the zalmans might be what you need.

a zalman 9700 is a decent cooler and does'nt take up as much space as the tower coolers. i don't know if your case will fit it or not, but the thermalright ultra 120 is also worth a consideration as its the best heatsink on the market. it is over your budget as the cooler also needs a fan, but imho its worth it.
