I've got:
p8z68-v-lx
2700k
16gb vengence (4x4gb blue with tall heatsinks)
palit 560 ti gfx

I've found the cpu at 4Ghz hits 74c with the stock intel heatsink+fan.

I want to get 2700k between 4.7ghz to 5ghz, so I've read I need Noctua dh14?

But the tall vengence ram will be physically in the way.

So questions:
recommended solution?

1. If I swap the ram for low profile do I loose anything without the heatsinks?
2. If I change mobo instead which is the best motherboard for this combo?
(and supports sli)
3. Alternatively is there another heatsink+fan that does as gooder job as Nocura dh14 for 5ghz and will fit the p8z68-v-lx + highprofile ram?

Thanks in advance

Low profile RAM is your cheapest solution. The big heat spreaders on some RAM are more for looks than functionality.

You could get a sealed water cooling unit (i.e. Antec Kuhler h2o 920, Corsair H80/H100). They won't have a problem with the tall heatsinks so you wouldnt have to change the RAM.

Tall heatsinks are just for the epeen brigade :p you dont need big heatsinks on ram. The noctua d14 is a superb cooler though. Got mine for a really good price too. The D14 performs as well as any closed loop water cooler and is quieter and cheaper too.

Thanks for the advice, I found a d14 for a very good price and went with swapping ram for low profile. Just waiting for Silver 5 compound + selling the 16gb tall corsair ram now.
