Heatsink for i7 4790k

Looking to replace the stock cooler on an i7 4790k at the stock setting as in BF1. It's heating up to 99c.
I did replace the thermal paste and reseated the stock cooler, but I don't think it's doing the job anymore, which is strange.

I was thinking of this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/raijintek-aidos-direct-contact-cpu-cooler-hs-002-rt.html

Thank you.

With the age of that of that CPU and the fact that it's now regularly hitting 100C, you seriously need to consider delidding it and replacing the now dried thermal paste between the die and the underside of the IHS.

I did change the thermal paste and it was still getting hot.
Coolermaster hyper 212, best air cooler for the money.
Thank you I will take a look.

Can use regular thermal paste or do I need the liquid metal stuff for inside the CPU bit?

Thank you

You can use regular thermal paste. Get the best one you can afford though. You'll still probably need to upgrade your CPU cooler as well as the stock one was never particularly good.

Hyper 212 used to be good low priced cooler, but now there are many as good or better costing much less.

Something like Jonsbo CR-1000 for £14.99.

Or Raijintek Thimis Black for £18.95

That's assuming they will fit in your system.
Need to know what case, motherboard and RAM you have to figure out what coolers will fit. ;)
