Heatsink..

Im transferring all of my stff into a new case, and ive already removed everything from the mobo, the mobo itself, but theres one problem.

I cant seem to take off the AMD stock heatsink off from the motherboard, i undone the clips but It still wont come off.

ideas?

Run the pc to heat the goop, then it will come off, maybe with a little twist too.

Hairdryer and try to rotate it gently, too much and you could bend pins. heat it a couple of minutes before trying it.

Otherwise try soaking a rag in alchohol and wrap around the base of the heatsink, turn board vertically and leave for a few minutes, keep rag damp.

if your just transfering from one case to another, do you need to take the heatsink off? i put the heatsink onto the processor before i put the motherboard into my case, so you shouldnt need to remove it if thats all your doing

^ This, unless your fitting a new heatsink.
