Anyone tidied up their garage with Heavy Duty Wide Garage Shelving Units?

If so where did you get yours from? Looking for around 1770h x 2400w x 450d and for it to house the usual garage bits and bobs.

Did you seal the MDF to prevent mould and moisture?

Just want something strong and robust.

Cheers for any pointers in advance.

I have the ones that Chris linked but paid less than 30quid, I wouldn't call them heavy duty, they're pretty flimsy, until you start putting stuff on them and then they are pretty rock solid. Yes to the sealing of the MDF, I just put some wood treatment on then and it seems to have resolved the issue of mould completely. They were horrible last winter on the underneath.

Mine were also £30 or just under so no idea why they are over £50 now!

And agreed they are flimsy until they're either bolted to the wall or you have stuff on them.

But they do the job just fine.

The ~£80 Costco shelves are great for the money. They actually used to be cheaper and stronger but a year or two back made the shelf boards thinner. I’ve some of the old and new and would still recommend. Annoyingly the newer are also deeper (60cm v 40cm) so they don’t nicely match my old bays.

I have a couple of those Costco ones - they're excellent. But they don't come with boards - just thick wire mesh as pictured.
I think if you can collect they're a fair bit cheaper in store.

And I think they ere a fair bit cheaper again when I bought them 4 years ago. I might be mis-remembering, but I could swear I paid about that much for two of them!

I bought in a load of 4x2 and 12mm OSB. Built them myself in a day. Totally overkill but I can stack whatever I want on them without concern.

Doesnt always work out cheaper cost wise but youll end up with a product that exactly suits your dimensions and needs.

I'll chime in with bigdug too. I bought a set circa 20 years ago for the garage and it all all still good today. Didn't bother sealing the shelving and there's no damp or mould issues with it.

I've got several kinds, the cheapo amazon/ebay type as linked above which seem fine to me for normally garage stuff. I've got a fully metal one i got from B&Q which is a step up in quality with all metal shelves.

The best ones i've got though are 2 sets of plastic ones, they're really rugged. Got mine from Lidl or Aldi ages ago as a cheap stop gap but they seem more sturdy than the metal framed/mdf shelf ones to me. Something like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254303216809

I went with wall mounted shelving as I only have a single garage and floor space is a premium! I used the twinslot brackets and I bought 2 sheets of 18mm plywood which homebase cut down to size for me in store :D I painted the shelves gloss white and they have been fantastic for about 3 years now.

Shelves not level here as the gloss was still drying and I didn't want them touching each other.
