That motherboard looks worryingly cheap...

I'm upgrading from;
Athlon 3000+
1GB Ram
GeForce 6800 GS 256mb

I can barely run CoD:WaW with just 9fps atm....I'll notice a solid improvement with this build right?

Yes you will, but as you rightly notice the mobo is a bit weak, if you can afford it go for a P43 board such as this, if you cant dont worry too much, itll still be a good step up from old machine, is it a decent make PSU though? you dont want to hook up new kit and find its a cheap psu which might blow under the strain
Edit: also for £2 more this gfx card is much better

I wouldn't be overclocking my system so that motherboard should be okay right?

and if I do spend just £2 on that card the PC's power consumption goes up by 80w to 420w and I have to buy another PSU, for atleast £25 (Cheap 550w PSU)

I hate having a budget :(

Much better for the money tbh...

My budget was £200 heh

I'm currently packing a FSP Group 400watt PSU w/ NOISE KILLER! (lol)

http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html

http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

I've been using these two programs to benchmark the power usage and this build comes in at just 377watts. wondering if that's a safe enough margin... however it says that's how much my current system is using.

not sure how reliable it is. surely it uses more power, or are these newer pieces of hardware just more efficient?

Sitting on the fence with these two;

Asus GeForce 9800 GT 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card £82.98 inc VAT
(comes with a 3 year warrenty)

or

HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM £79.99 inc VAT
(no warrenty)
