Heavy Rain, A PS3 'realtime' demo vid

i thought it looks odd as hell at the start, but when she starts crying with the gun at the camera and the lightening, I had to do a double take for a minute.

MP4 - Try again, the link works.

It was nice, very smoothly done. Problem is, when they go to this level of nuances and detail (did you see her chin crease up?) you notice the lip synching go off and the fact that her tongue doesn't form words enough. It's like her mouth is a semi rigid hole that doesn't really create the speech.

Maybe it was the video quality, but if they are going to blur the background, maybe put more detail (texture/polygons) into the main character?

Good though. I think they could easily make a game look that good, it's whether they can maintain that level of animation and acting throughout that'd be great.

Not unless the game was a point and click adventure. The other calculations necessary to make a game work would sap too much processing power for that to be anywhere near feasible

They won't.
The only game I've seen that could pull have pulled it off was Fahrenheit in my opinion, if the same makers are doing this game, then it should be nice and cinematic, however the problem is, you're not playing a game then, you're just watching lots and lots of acted out sequences, but will be interesting to see how they integrate it into a Fahrenheit style game. Fahrenheit is one of the few game styles that would work, as it is a very cinematic style in presentation, and action sequences would actually benefit from lots of these effect, but a normal first person shooter wouldn't really work right I don't think.
