I don't really want to compare the quality of the games(but I do think Heavy Rain is far superior, so I just did!), but the quality of the facial animations and such.

There was just a big ho ha as to the quality of knowing if someone was lying or such in L.A Noire(which I didn't get at all, it took me over a year to know when my other half is lying or not, and I'm still only 50% there!).

There was no such fuss with Heavy Rain, but I think the facial and body animations are just as good, if not better then the ones in L.A Noire, and it wasn't hardly mentioned in the build up to release(well nowhere near as much as L.A. Noire).

Just wondering what others think on this?

Played both and Heavy Rain is by far the better game of the 2.

The story had me gripped by the *******, while L.A Noire was just the same old **** after a while.

The OP wanted us to compare facial expressions between the games, not the games themselves. :D

That being said it's been a long time since I played Heavy Rain so I'm not much use to this thread, but some of the videos I saw of LA Noire impressed me a lot more than Heavy Rain ever did.

The facial animations in LA Noire are way ahead of anything seen previously, including Heavy Rain. Just a shame that the game itself is so incredibly dull.

L.A.Noire had the best facial expressions, though Heavy Rain was certainly good enough.

Story-wise (I know that wasn't the main point, but), Heavy Rain grabbed me much more emotionally than L.A.Noire every did, but as for game-play, Noire did at least have some.

I really enjoyed heavy rain for what it was, The graphics are superb in places but the facial animations just weren't on the same level as LA noire,

Heavy rain was the better game though, I got to disk 2 on LA noire and got bored with it

Heavy Rain wins the compelling story hands down. Heavy Rain also had some rather decent visuals marred by some horrific tearing in places however it’s well worth ignoring to play such a game. It was even better combined with the move features of PS3.

LA Noire was amazing visually, started out really well but soon got bland and boring and repetitive and eventually became a chore to chug your way through it.

Heavy Rain therefore wins the compulsion to actually play the game more, whilst LA Noire wins the well I’m bored of looking at fantastic visual and facial expressions, where is the actual game now gone award..

Precisely what I did.

But it's the facial expressions I'm bothered about, it seems like Rockstar wanted to really sell it based on that alone!

Personally I think there's just as much a chance to see if people are lying/telling the truth in Heavy Rain. Stupid idea to think the general public who have known a character for 5mins can tell if they're lying or not!

Can't remember how many times I got my questioning wrong...

Heavy Rain would be better for me, but I don't like the whole 'press this button now' action thing! would prefer Heavy Rain with the LA Noir action system. LA Noir bit too repetative!

Facial animations are a huge step over anything previously, including Heavy Rain. That said, it doesn't make it the better game.

Also. How many people are completely forgoing the OP before posting?

I was half way through disc 1 when I first game across this thread and thought you all mad.

Now I'm on disc 3 I've got to agree. LA Noire does get a bit boring which is a shame as for a while it was up there as one of my games of the generation.

Echoing what everyone ese has said really. Far preferred Heavy Rain in terms of gameplay, storyline etc. But LA Noire had better facial animation - although not better animation or graphic overall.

I hope Heavy Rain's follow-up uses similar technology to continue to press realism onwards.

The reason a big deal was made out of the facial animations in LA Noire is because its never been used before(in game)technology.

The facial movements are much better in LA Noire while I think the actual visual gfx of everything including face is better in Heavy Rain. I don't think its really fair to be comparing them but I think combining the two would make for some seriously good facial effects and visuals.

Heavy Rain was a better game imo
