Looking to replace my monitor. Still have a fair shortlist ranging from
Samsung B2430
Samsung P2450
Samsung XL2370
Samsung BX2350 or BX 2450
Dell U2311
One thing that concerns me (with the exception of the Dell) is the height that these modern monitors sit above the desk.
My current 19" (4:3) monitor has a tilt-only stand but the screen bezel sits 130mm above the desk. This puts my line of sight on the screen centreline. The monitor height without stand is about 350mm.
Now all the Samsungs I have listed have fixed stands and they are very short.
For example, the bezel of the XL2370 sits a mere 58mm above the desk, whilst the BX2350 isn't much more at 75mm. Initially I thought this was to cater for taller screens but these pretty much the same height as my current 19".
This isn't just Samsung, but pretty much the same across manufacturers.
So how do these work out in reality on a traditional desk with a single flat top on which the keyboard, mouse and monitor sit. Do you have to look down at the monitor, do you have the monitor tilted backwards, is it something you just get used to?
Cheers,
Nigel
