Hein Gericke Enters Administration

Shame about this - they were my go-to guys for gear and the service was usually very friendly and helpful. J&S is around the corner but I get mixed service with them.

Looks like I may need to check out similar stores in Birmingham if my branch gets sold :(

Shame its finally happened but its not really a surprise sadly :( the Southampton store has had barely any stock for months and it was quite depressing going in there seeing what it has become, used to be full of stock and customers a few years ago.

Damn. The Reading was has been quite decent in the time I've been using them. Got my delightful waterproof 2-piece etc.

Has anybody been since the announcement? Their site says "yeah, bad stuff, we'll update you about MASSIVE DISCOUNTS in the near future etc" but will it be the usual anti-climax?

As sad as it is that it may be closing down, I'm actually looking for a new helmet. Will they be starting their "massive discounts" tomorrow?

Just got an email from them saying their sale is now on.

Anyone been in to see what bargains are to be had?

I went in to Reading just now and it was the usual kind of discounts. 10% on hat, 20% on clothing and 30% on other stuff, if I recall.

Guy said that they'd know by Thursday I think, whether they have a buyer at all, if not then there's 7 weeks to get rid of as much stock as they can. He did imply it could close quicker than that but ... yes.

I'll be waiting another week or so before trying again if indeed they fail to get a buyer. Rinse and repeat each week probably thereafter. :/

Like you found, the Edinburgh store was the same and just had the usual 20% discount. Though there was quite a few people in and buying stuff.

One guy bought some low-cut boots whilst I was there, and when the guy at the checkout mentioned "... yeah lifetime guarantee... provided we're still here!" the buyer didn't know about the end of world. I think he regretted already having bought them before any further reductions hehe.

Damn shame, the Farnborough store is so much better than the Motorcycle City/Infinity/WhateverTheyreCalledNow store and the staff are very helpful as well as being a talkative bunch.

:(

Just been in, they have better sales when not in administration. No bargains really. Lots of people in the shop but lots walking out as would have got a better deal last week. I like hg kit and am quite gutted if they don't get a buyer in.

Yea that's my local store always chatty. Will do a good deal most of the time as well.

I went to my local HG today, not much different to normal really. Still the same old 10/20/30% sales on.

All the good stuff was 10% off, the crap stuff was 30% off. Didn't bother buying anything.
