Came round on the floor of my mates bedroom once feeling really sick after a helium binge. I remember having a few puffs for a laugh, can't remember much after that. His sisters brithday party was not decorated very nicely that year
Fun fact: empty canisters weigh LOADS more than ones full of helium.

not dangerous at all, unless there is so much that there isn't oxygen and you die - pretty much the same as nitrogen - harmless but if its 100% you think your breathing normally until you suddenly collapse and die (as you body cannot tell the difference between nitrogen with oxygen in it and pure nitrogen).

This thread has some retarded replys. helium is perfectly safe. The op isn't going to be breathing in pure helium long enough to do any oxygen starvation damage. If he attempted he would feel the affects and stop. If he doesn't he can get the Darwin award at his funeral.

thats the problem though - he would not feel the effects of oxygen starvation before he collapsed because thats not how the body works.

Nor did he know that it is used in diving, nor did he state that he was talking about pure helium.
