Don't have many PC "buddies" to play these games with so who here actually plays it regularly?

Would love to get together a band of brothers type squad and get everyone in on a couple of games a week.

Shame about 15fps.

I got 55 fps in the town centre but it dropped to 30 in the canal district, which I thought was odd because I figured the way more buildings etc in the centre of the town would have more effect than the canal district. My squadmates told me theres an engine.ini change which fixes it so I'll give that a go

I've been watching a few youtubers play it as I quite fancy giving it a go, but they've all been saying performance is absolutely horrendous even on medium settings on high end gpus. Been showing 30 to 40 average and drops to 15 quite regularly.

I play quite a bit of it and this map , Carentan, is the first I've had which seems to suffer badly in drops, I've not seen it on the other maps. Its possible though that I havent noticed it because its a far FAR slower paced game than other FPS I've played and maybe thats meant framedrops arent as noticeable to me as when I play CoD or Battlefield.

Or maybe I spend too much time crouching in a bush or bunker to notice them :)

Performance issues aside, the new update is amazing. I was a backer for the kickstarter for this game, but when it first came out, I was pretty disappointed. The game had promise, but the weapon handling felt awful...and that's fundamental to the enjoyment for me. Weapons felt wooden and unintuitive, recoil felt odd...I just never got any pleasure playing it. I've come back to the game a few times to give it another chance, but despite improvements in other areas, I just couldn't get on with the clunkiness.

This update has changed all that. The new animation system has transformed the feel of the game. Weapons now feel much more fluid; the way you lift them to the eye, the way the weapon moves as you move, and the way that the gun seems to recoil, rather than your entire screen. It all feels so much better, and I now find myself actually wanting to play and get involved, whereas before, the game felt obstructive and frustrating.

Good news is the devs are aware of the performance issues. Word is they are looking to get a hot fix out this weekend. In the meantime, have a look on the HLL Reddit, there's a few tips posted there to help improve things in the meantime. I've turned off AA and lowered the dead body despawn timer, and even Carentan plays at an acceptable rate (apart from the weird drops to 10FPS occasionally, which seems to plague everyone on the server at the same time). It has always been a resource intensive game, but as ever with UE4 engined games, optimisation needs a lot of work.

Agreed the new animations are brilliant.

45-60fps steady on the new map, some slow downs when you have 100 people all shooting at each other but kind of expect that, dev team are working on hot fixes and next focus is optimisation which will be great.

Considering the Carentan map is huge and absolutely filled with stuff it's not surprising there are some drops but there are plenty of maps for me to still enjoy, Hill 400 and Purple Heart Lane and awesome.
