i've got the money for the MSI Lightning 7970.... i just went home, picked up a letter off the door mat, opened it and it's a tax refund for 410 quid....

i'll need to sort out exactly which card to get, but this is brilliant news, this is so flukey.... i've never had luck like this before, i was just about to give up hope as well
 
The Lightning has, no dual link dvi(no 120hz/3d on dvi which is still the most common way to get it), its got 14 phase power, that even a LN2 cooled card running at 2Ghz would need, you're paying for 14, you need 5 and you're being charged a margin on every extra one. THe cooler is exactly no better than any of the other custom cooled cards.

In the end its worth more than other custom cooled cards only to LN2 coolers realistically, no one else will find any use in any of the extra "features".

Save money, get a card that will perform identically under air/water cooling.
 
thanks guys i'm so happy right now, i've just put the checque in the bank, it should clear next thursday...i might be able to sell some paintings too, next tuesday is going to be a very busy day at the art show

now lets calm down and think.... do i get the 7970 or the 7950 and which type, because i saw a ``cool master`` version as well, my guess is it's best to get the most powerful one and spend around 430 quid

right lets take a look, i think this thread is going to be very busy guys, because i is now in Vulture mode :D:D

yea i noticed this yesterday, but i dont think this effects me on 1080p tv,
the lightning is no better than the Sapphire so yes you're right, but they're both the same price so there you go..
 
Sapphire 7950 so I don't feel too far behind with my choice. Then get another when they drop in price prob next month.
Do these offer 120hz over dvi by the way??
I get this on just my GTX460
 
i've seen a nice one, it's the Powercolor 7950..... but to be honest they all perform the same, as do the 7970s...... i'm wondering if i really need a 7970, because the 7950 destroys everything on my res, plus it's quite a lot cheaper.

it's nice to surf now without feeling jealous of everyone else, but i'm now getting a bit frustrated that i have to wait till thursday :D :D
