I've only just found out this is in development and due for release in august:

I like the previous games by Ninja Theory and like the idea behind this, certainly one to pre-order for me.

Yeah I got it but only managed to put in an hour into it.

Enjoyed what I've played so far, looks good and runs well. Best played with headphones to because of the 3D sound with the voices in her head.

It's not a total action game, more a puzzle game that's story driven. The fighting when it does start is good and satisfying.

Will try to put some more time into it over the weekend.

Yeah I picked it up, probably not what I was expecting but it's not bad at all. I've played a couple of hours and as said above it's a psychological puzzler. It doesn't give you many pointers as to what you're supposed to do and no combat training, it just lets you get on with it.

Edit: Played some more and the pace picks up a bit and the combat is pretty fun.

Also for anyone that doesn't know that has Permadeath ie die too much and it's game over!

I've been playing this - I started last night.

Here are my thoughts:

For:
+ Excellent combat, very satisfying mechanics
+ Beautiful graphics and environments
+ Amazing, sometimes disconcerting audio (use headphones for the binaural experience)
+ Inventive use of mythology theme

Against:
- God damned awful and downright frustrating level design at times. Almost stopped me playing a few times.
- Unless you take the time to look up the controls you won't know what you're doing in combat
- Some mechanics are not explained to you (see above)
- The character doesn't feel fleshed out and I feel no attachment to her (she's no Aloy) at least so far
- Lots of places you think you can walk/climb/duck under, you can't. Also, no jump?

Basically, it's not as good as I thought it would be but I'm giving it a chance and will probably finish it as it's apparently quite short.

Also I wish I hadn't read the above as the permadeath thing has made boss fights more tense for me. The game does say that there is permadeath, though?

Yeah I wish I hadn't read the above either as I was under the impression that you could die permanently (apparently a bluff) but now knowing that has changed the game for me... thanks Blueshift

Ban for spoiler tbh. :p

This sums up my feelings, especially the lack of explanation of core mechanics early on and muddled level design that relies a bit too much on trial and error. It looks lovely, combat is meaty if simple and the theme is interesting but it could have been so much more and I think it's destined to be a PS+ title in 6-9 months.

It would have been nice if they told you that mashing X lets you get up from a knockdown rather than finding it out through trial and error.

Also block before impact grants attack of opportunity, holding x lets you dodge further, melee attacks open up shield warriors, you can run in combat, etc etc..

Got a bit further now. The Sea of Corpses was pretty damned awesome.

I still stand by my points above, though. The fire trial was yet another example of frustrating design. Died several times, a couple due to a broken/buggy game mechanic which was really annoying. If I'd had permadeath from that level, I'd have stopped playing the game.

I get the idea that some of the frustration this game causes may be deliberate, but some of it is definitely poor design choice.

I finished it the other day, pretty short game but I don't mind that, actually quite enjoyed it, there's not many games that keep my attention at the moment so it must have done something right.
