Helldivers 2

have you seen the new HD2 beta. install size down from 150Gb to 23Gb
it's mental how much bloat it has just got just to run ok on hard disks. makes you wonder how many other massive installs could be smaller. apparently no cut in asset quality.... but will take longer to load on HDDs . (fine on SSDs)

will free up loads on my Steam deck

How the hell have they managed that? Welcome change though

it just shows how much file duplication there was. Whether they have used some form of lossless compression on textures as well i dunno. its a smaller install now than on console.

I suspect its a balance of duplicate file removal, and more aggressive/advanced compression mechanisms; as I dont think JUST removing duplication would realistically drop the size THAT much; and the fact its now smaller than the console builds which EXPECT SSDs also indicates its more than just removal of the duplication (which was a HDD optimisation).
The main reason I suspect more advanced compression is in play is I noticed on a quick test earlier on steam deck, my framerate seemed to have drop slightly from the performance improvement patch a few weeks ago and CPU usage seemed to be up slightly in general, than before this new slim branch. This being said, the 150GB to low 20s is incredible for my steam deck (well for ANYTHING I have it installed on).

I joined the slim beta, it did a 9.4GB update and then reduced the size.

Dropped from 152GB to 22GB, such a difference lol

Forgot to post this when announced but new legendary warbond coming on the 18th of December!

Looking forward to this as I ddin't get anything when it was done last time round as it cost around 4k SC to get everything from the store.

I did get the Killzone skin in The Division 2 when they did a crossover as well.

Anyone playing this lately? Im curious about how the game is now?
I loved it for so long but lack of progress really got me hard but my enjoyment of arc raiders seems to be encouraging me to jump in to HD2 again.
Very different games i know but also similar in some ways.

TBH I can't get back into it, the patch ages ago where they tried to balanced it like some kind of competitive PVP game really killed my enjoyment of it and now I'm out it feels prohibitive to get back into it.
