Hellgate London

Im never too optimistic with these types of games, although if thiers a demo release, ill glady give it a whirl :)

As a massive D2 fan, I was eagerly awaiting this....but....

Gameplay footage looks absolutely terrible. Plus, it uses semi-MMO system like D2 and Guild Wars, yet you have to pay a subs fee - yes, I'm aware you don't 'have' to pay but you miss out on a fair chunk of the game if you don't.

Just seems a dodgy setup they have. Definately waiting on reviews for this, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Anything in particular that you don't like about the gameplay?

From what i've seen it looks interesting, lots of big swords/guns, and a variety of demons.

I'd have liked to have been picked for the beta, but the way they distributed this did seem rather odd, very much a random, give us your email and you might get in. Didn't even take your computer spec.

Personally I am really looking forward to it. This is a good video of the co-op http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23225.html obviously they are fairly low lvl as they don't have many skills on their quickbars.

That was a great video, i'm looking forward to it even more now!

MMmhhh all I can say is that the ranged classes in this game feel very iffy, it's not like your usual fps (you can use a fps view) or third person, but meh, I stuck to a melee class it's so much more fun.

But it's really hard to find people to team with, the only time you see another player are in stations, that's it.

Good if you got real life friends or people you know online a lot, but pick up and play with a team? forget it, too many reason why it's better to solo ;P

In what way is ranged iffy, could you elaborate?

And surely there will be a lot more people playing at release, rather than in the beta, and hence easier to find groups?

In mmos i usually go for a spellcaster of some description, but i'll have to see with this game.

Good to see people describing this as an MMO rather than an MMORPG - the shortened version because although there will be updates and add-on packs the main world doesn't go on without you.

I still think they will be hard pushed for a November release from what I've seen of the game.
As far as I know there has not been an announcement on it going gold yet.
Remember this was due for release November 2006 so they have delayed it another year, so a couple more months wouldn't hurt to just finish things off.

As an MMO it certainly looks interesting.
I'm still looking for a new MMORPG to take some of my life away from me but until then maybe some "lighter" MMO action in the guise of Hellgate London maybe the way forward.

I've been looking forward to this for a while.

Another D2 fan here hoping that the creators really have infused that magic into this new game.

From what I've seen I think the gameplay looks great.

problem is if your not going to pay monthly your character/game is gimped online. theres a list somewhere in an old pcgamer magazine on the diferences.
