Is anyone still playing this (apart from me)? I accidently declined an invite to the OcUK Guild, caused by my getting at least five invites from assorted different guilds everytime I logged on. It was getting pretty tiresome and I was declining the invites without really looking to see who they where from and there you have the crux of my problem.

If anyone can offer me another invite to the OcUK Guild I'd be grateful.

Forgot to mention, characters name is Jager.

I'm still playing, I'm not in any guilds though. I think the game is great myself, yet it seems to be coming in for a lot of stick. A visit to the official forums is depressing as it's just full of people complaining. I did stop playing for a while after launch because of the annoying network disconnects. I started playing again last week and so far have logged 30+ hours without a single crash or disconnect which is great. They certainly seem to have improved the game a lot with both fixes, new content, skill rebalances for certain classes etc. With the release of Stonehenge there is a bit more incentive to subscribe as it provides replayable content and high level group content, but even I'll admit that at this stage you probably need to be a real big fan to justify a subscription, they really need to work on making the sub content worthwhile if they want any chance of getting more subscribers into the game.

I feel guilty recommending the game though, it's kinda like my dirty little secret

I don't know if the game is genuinly rubbish and I'm just weird, and in a small minority for enjoying it, or whether it is actually a decent game that just got launched early with too many bugs. All I know is that this was the best release of 07 for me and for some reason I just love it, even splashed out for the founders offer the other day.

Weird that, I wouldn't recommend it but have enjoyed playing it a lot. Probably mainly because it was so unfinished at release but does feel a lot nicer to play now they've put out a few patches. Did lock up once while I was playing this evening though.

Also went for founders like the fool that I am, all they had to do was make it a time limited offer and I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.

The only thing stopping me from buying this after having a go in beta is that I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere about the pay-to-play model. I take it if you aren't a paying subscriber, you don't get access to major content updates etc? It seems to me that if you're paying monthly they love you (and tbh with this game as it is I'd rather pay monthly for something more polished like LOTRO), but if you aren't then you're out in the cold. Is this the case?

My copy arrived on Saturday. I tried browsing their website for info and have to say its really basic and didn't answer any of my questions. It seams a bit of a ripoff making you pay so you can use ythe elite gear drops . Why the hell is that when I have paid good money for the game in the first place!

The voice acting of the characters I have to say is very amateur, bordering on laughable. It is early so i'll hold out before I criticise too much.

It crashed 3 times when zoning (using Vista64) in the first hour alone so I gave up and played Everquest 2 all weekend, which I really enjoyed. I'll give Hellgate another go next weekend but the whole subscription thing has left a sour taste in my mouth

I get online once or twice a week and enjoy the hack n slash style. It's good fun and easy to play, but not something I would put hours into.
The great thing about this game is I can log on for as little as half an hour and still get something done! So many online games now require too much time running between areas and stood about LFG

I'd buy this game in an instant, I regularly pay monthly for games and have zero problem doing it, but the benefits just don't out-weigh the cost, it'd be like paying for Titan Quest or D2.

If they dropped the online fee and had a huge advertising campaign, I bet they'd get quite a few more pennies.

Bit surprised that you complain about the monthly fee yet in the same post say that you play EQ2. I doubt you get as good value for a Hellgate subscription but then it is optional, you can play without it, whereas you can do nothing in EQ2 without paying the monthly fee after the trial period.

I've been playing it for the past few weeks without paying the sub, and it's perfectly playable. Quite enjoying it too, very atmospheric. Except, as has been previously mentioned, for the awful voice acting. Every games developer everywhere should have a ten foot high neon sign over their entrance, so that they never forget :

IMHO you can't really compare a MMORPG subscription with something like Hellgate. They are on a totally different scale and content.

My compalint I guess is more the fact that after paying full price for the game simple things are held back to encourage paying the $10 per month like give extra storage slots to subscribers etc

If they are continuing to add content then that is fair enough that they get paid for this additional work. But holding back storage slots and letting subscribers use all items found in the game doesnt seem fair IMO.

Anyway i'll give it a chance. (not subscribing tho)

hmm i dont play atm but am guild leader of ocuk so will get on at some point and make some one who plays still to guild leader
