...in need of abit of advice, been stalking these forums for over 4 years and only just decided to sign up now, hahaha :)

I have been abit strapped for cash since going to University 3 years ago and just come into some money, so strapped I resorted to stealing internet off my neighbours 5 doors down to feed my addiction.. terrible I know - but I have a budget of about £1000 which I am going to use to set about creating a new build...

Budget maybe high but wanna try get best performance as possible if I can! and I aint into the fancy stuff I want performance overall - any help is welcome greatly!

Ideal case to work around would be Antec 300 cause my cousin sold me his for £20 and after looking it up found out I got a pretty sweet deal!

Cheers - P x

Gaming, just pure gaming.... I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR32Z/T purely for University Work

No keyboard, mouse, or monitor just the computer itself :)

Suggest you wait around until end of June when new graphics cards take off and see what benefits if any P45 chipset will bring (haven't been following that one).

this is assuming you have a copy of windows?

the graphics cards are just there to act as price holders, (assuming you are willing to wait until the new mid range cards come out)

edge;)

I think I am going to wait until the new cards come out.. I will be moving into my new flat around the end of July so it will be perfect time!

But I have had serious considerations of slapping all £1000 on Spain to win Euro 2008 which would see a return of around £6500, but knowing this Germany will probably win and I will lose £1000 :(

There's nothing wrong with students! We just don't see that much money very often! I don't think I could spend that much on a PC though, half that would be my limit!
