As above - i want to use the lacie as a file server/backup/sharing box.
Im aware the VIA C3 isnt a full i686 chip so not sure what Linux distros it will run...
Main things are I need the drives to spin down and the unit to sleep untill woken by LAN or scheduling for recording etc.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers,

Perry.

I had a Via C3 mini-itx board until last year. I ran it with ubuntu 8.04 (or a previous version i'm not 100%) using a CF card. I can also tell you Fedora 10 runs on it.

I know centos doesnt run and archlinux won't either.

Good luck, it's fun hardware despite it's limitations!

I run Debian on mine. It's perfect apart from the fact that mine only has USB 1.1, can't even max out my 50mb connection due to this limitation!
