US: Hello Ladies.

Watched the first episode and though it was pretty good. You really do cringe at him trying to impress people haha. Need to catch up with episode 2, should be just as good.

I'm enjoying it though it would be nice if he'd strayed from awkward/embarrassing comedy.

His lodger and eventual gf is hawt.

It is a classic "cringe during and cover your eyes" post-Gervaisian comedy. It's on HBO so ratings are irrelevant, but it has like-for-like main network competitor from "Super Fun Night". Identical premise of awkward people with bad sidekicks doing stupid and cringeworthy things on the night out week after week but girls instead of boys. Ultimately, both are unsustainable and hard to watch unless you like comedies that make you go purple red for the behavior of characters, I personally think this comedic device is done and dusted and should be left to para-documental formats a-la The Office and only in mild american versions, as at least they don't make you feel sad for what you've witnessed on the screen afterwards.

There are times it's so painful I turn it off then come back to it way later, its brilliant and awful/evil in one. It's this decades Curb I guess, I don't think it's as good, though if it got a bit of time to grow, another series it could turn into something pretty damn good.

That as von said describes it brilliant. Still an excellent comedy, no doubt it will finish in a few more episodes, once he gets lucky its over show type but hopefully wrong.

He does play the part of a lanky akward brit perfectly

Yeah been really enjoying this, as well as being a pretty damn good writer Stephen Merchant ain't a half bad actor either :-)

The scene in the latest episode with Nate Torrence his wife and daughter although short was unbelievably powerful and heart breaking :-(
Nate Torrence is a superb actor in this and shall certainly be looking out for more of his work :-)
