Ok. My iPad and my laptop are dying . iPad five years old. Charging point knackered. Laptop similar age slowing down
Time to buy new my needs are basic
  • Internet browsing
  • Watching TV via laptop
  • PowerPoint and videos off line.. teaching
  • Usual social media. Skype.. zoom..etc
  • Tiny amount of bookkeeping which I currently use Excel for but changing is no biggy
I don't do gaming or photo editing but store photos on external harddrive along with documents.
I'm unsure whether to buy a Chromebook or laptop. Budget low... I've also seen iPad for about £400. Which is my upper limit

Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received

This isn't the most active subforum. I'm in a similar position to you and suspect a Chromebook will meet my needs but I've not yet made that leap to see for myself.

Sorry can't be any real help.

Not a particularly active forum??? Or are basic questions too low brow
Not too low brow at all. I would go budget Win 10 laptop if doing some excel and powerpoint, 15 in screen as well. Last two Acers I bought were just under £400, one is 9 years old, the other 3 years - the kids are having no issues doing their online learning on them. Good luck.
