Although I have been a member of OC for about 4 years now I have only recently signed up to the forums.

I exclusively run SETI, and before any pimpage takes place I will always exclusively run SETI. I'm at position 155 at the moment and moving ina northerly direction, so people like God better watch out (less than 3 months!!!)

So, hello to all the old names, who I have managed to get to know like some mad stalker who you never know is there *evil laugh*

Oi up again, Mr. Fluffy. Is there any particular reason you've been lurking, observing, and generally stalknig us all for so long? :p
Not really. I wanted to join the ace of all teams, so that was an easy choice, then I started reading the forums, such as the weekly news, to see what the team is all about, then it lead on from there.

The reason I fully joined the forum is that I am planning one big upgrade for my PC over the summmer hols and I need to get the opinion of forum members (probably in overclocking) as to whether the system will be suitable.

What sort of system did you have in mind if I might inquire?

I was thinking a socket 939 opteron 175 :D , but with AM2 now out and about it is all up for grabs again. I'm looking to spend in the region of £600 on a new processor, RAM, motherboard, sound and graphics, and will do a spec up in about a month.

Yeah, I know the prices are about to drop, but in all the time I have owned/run PCs every PC has been top level when bought, but has never been future proofed by having the latest socket motherboard. I run a socket 754 at the mo, and if I want to upgrade I need to change the board as well (read: more cost). If I go AM2 I will have the ability to drop in a new CPU 2 years down the line with no extra, hidden, costs.

I am waiting for conroe to be released so that AMD are forced into a price drop, then spec from there.
