Hello, right I've set up my client etc on my PC.

VeNT's talked me through it all and now I've got FahMon open, it's currently at 0% with this being said:

[18:56:26]
[18:56:26] *------------------------------*
[18:56:26] Folding@Home GB Gromacs Core
[18:56:26] Version 1.90 (March 8, 2006)
[18:56:26]
[18:56:26] Preparing to commence simulation
[18:56:26] - Assembly optimizations manually forced on.
[18:56:26] - Not checking prior termination.
[18:56:26] - Expanded 19149 -> 155771 (decompressed 813.4 percent)
[18:56:26] - Starting from initial work packet
[18:56:26]
[18:56:26] Project: 2095 (Run 92, Clone 97, Gen 0)
[18:56:26]
[18:56:26] Assembly optimizations on if available.
[18:56:26] Entering M.D.
[18:56:33] Protein: p2095_Protein
[18:56:33]
[18:56:33] Writing local files
[18:56:33] GB activated
[18:56:33] Extra SSE boost OK.
[18:56:33] Writing local files
[18:56:34] Completed 0 out of 12500000 steps (0)

It doesn't appear to be doing anything, is it working?

Also, when I went to "My Stats" it took me to an anonymous user page? I'm confused... :confused:

A few of us are idling in #Team-OcUK on Quakenet, feel free to join.

Ah yes, 100% load - that's what I want to see :p

I'm going home in a few days for a couple of weeks, I'm tempted to leave my PC folding, just for you guys ;)

You don't have any stats to display until you return your first WU. After that your numbers will be available. Just to be sure, open up client.cfg in Notepad and check to be sure your chosen username is next to the username=.

Of course you'll want to leave your machine on whilst you're away. Just be sure not to break a mirror or something like Bigstan must've done.

Just checked, it had:

Username=Anonymous
Team=0

I've just changed it to:

Username=Nix
Team=10

did you edit the file or actually reconfigure the client properly?
sometimes editing the file will just cause more problems - it's best to use the -configonly switch to do it properly

ask VeNT - I'm sure he can talk you through :D

Ooh, don't do that. Fiddling with that file is a bit naughty becasue the way it's saved is not the way windows wants to do it. It's more of a UNIX style file. Thought changing it can be OK, it's frowned upon becasue it can break it and lose your settings. To properly change it, stop the service by going to Start > Run type services.msc, press enter, scroll down to FAH@..., and press stop. Open up the folder where you put the console. Make a shortcut to the client executable by right clicking on it and choosing "Create Shortcut".

Click on the new shortcut and select properties to brink up the window shown.

In the box called "Target" after the .exe type a space and -configonly.

Press OK. Run the shortcut. The client will go into config mode. Here you will see that all the config options from the first time around here back.

The first thing for which it will ask is your username and the second is your team. Enter both in properly, press enter to reaffirm your other settings, then go restart the service.

I've only lost 2 cores this trip (so far) which is an improvement on the last couple of trips :p (oddly enough, it's 1 core on each of 2 dual core machines - what are the chances of that :confused: ).

Meh, it's fine - just edit it using notepad! I've always done it like that. Nevertheless, it won't harm to do things by the book.

Editing the text is usually OK, adding carriage returns will screw it all up. I've seen my co-worker do this and bork the installation. It freaks out, deletes the config file, and creates a new one for Anonumous for team 0.

You do have to do it properly, granted. Add no spaces or returns. If you don't do anything stupid with it, it'll be fine.
