Hi all,
I bought my Hazro hz24wi a couple months ago and I'm quite satisfied but now I should buy a present for my father and I need you guys to help me in finding a good 22 inches...

This monitor will be used mostly for office usage (word, excel, e-mails, web browsing), to watch some movies and pictures and to play some dumb games (cards, chess, some pinballs), rarely to play serious fps games.

To summarize I need a 22 inches monitor with good color reproduction, hdcp support, low backlight bleeding, aesthetically pleasant and if it's possible with low input lag (not a priority).

Here is a list of possible candidates:

-SAMSUNG
226bw
226cw
2232bw
2233bw
2253bw
t220

-BENQ
E2200HD
G2200WT

-HP
w2207h
w2228h

- LG
Flatron M2294D

- VIEWSONIC
VP2250wb
VG2230wm

1)Which one of these would satisfy my needs best? (Pros and Cons)
2)Should I consider other brands/models?
3)Some months ago there was around a 24 inches monitor, it was really cheap and ppl said that colours were great and there were almost no input lag: it has been sold under different brands with different features and panels (TN or VA), if I'm not in wrong one of these was Iolair. Is it familiar to someone?
4) What you guys think about the Liyama ProLite B2403WS-1? There's one shop here where I live that is selling it brand new for 260euro instead of 350-360 euro average... Is it any good?

Thanks all and let me know.

I had a look around yesterday and I read that 2232bw and 2253bw, despite the fact that they are newer than 226bw, they are not capable to reach the 226bw quality. I've also read that all these 3 monitors are affected by panel lottery and if you don't get a Samsung panel you would probably have just an average monitor. I can also discard the 226cw due to oversaturated colors, so the only samsung that seems to survive is the T220...

I've read a lot of user reviews and 99% seems to be positive, the only complaint is about the weak and unstable stand, on the other hand some "experts" reviews speaks about bad colour accurancy and bad backlight bleeding but yesterday I've found this review http://www.digitalversus.com/article-358-3448-36.html : it seems that simply switching gamma and rta from 1 to 2 in the osd improves both reactivity, colour accurancy and contrast ratio.

What you guys think of the T220 ?

I've to decide between these 3 monitors: the samsung T220, the HP w2207h and the new HP w2228h... any suggestion?

*** EDIT : I've also found this http://www.digitalversus.com/article-358-2684-41.html and it looks really impressive: colour accurancy is better than 226bw with Samsung panel... Have someone of you seen this monitor is action? Does it have some "hidden" drawbacks? ***

What is your budget?

Can you get a 24" monitor? The Dell S2409W is a good monitor and can be had for around £200. The resolution of 1920x1080 would look nicer.

All of the 22" panels AFAIK are TN panels so they will probably perform similar. I would stick to the brands of Dell, Samsung and LG.
Have you looked at the LG L227WT 22" monitor? It gets good reviews.

I was also put off the Samsung 22" models because of the panel lottery and I didn't like the design of the T220 personally.
If you can get a 24" monitor, take a look at the Dell S2409W or the Samsung SM-245B - both get excellent reviews and they are a bargain, especially the Dell right now.

Due to the goal of this monitor (used mostly for simple office usage) I think the budget should be around 230-240GBP, I didn't consider 24 inches because I thought that a good one was above this budget but as you showed me there seems to be some good 24 inches for a reasonable price so I'll have a look in that way too.

Which 24 inches models could I buy?

It would be worth moving up to the 24" range. You will actually have more of a choice and the resolution is better. :)

The Dell S2409W can be had for £200 inc VAT + Delivery but that offer ends tomorrow.
The Samsung SM-245B is also worth looking at but is more expensive than the Dell.

The only Dell S2409W I see is being sold for 230GBP and it's already out of stock, am I watching in the wrong place or is it already gone?

Can you please link me the offer?

I can't give you a link because it's not allowed on these forums. I cannot name any competitors, etc.
Take a look at the manufacturers website for info on screen, etc.

I bought the Dell S2409W: I've got it for 280eur (222 GBP) VAT and shipping included, I only hope I did the right choice... The ETA should be the end of november: are they so slow usually?

Thanks for help and suggestions, I'll let you know..

I got the SAMSUNG T220 a coupel of months ago and love it. I use it for high demand graphics gaming and office and it works a treat. Looks absolutely lovely too - best looking monitor I have seen around.
I'm afraid I cannot tell you how it matches up against your technical checklist.
They do an HD version with and inbuilt TV if this is of interest.

Nice :)
I think they give you the latest date that it should arrive. Usually it is ships quite a bit before that.
