Decisions..decisions..2007fwp sold...couldn't handle the dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Got most of my cash back anyway. Couldn't return it under sale of goods act as I had the packaging thrashed, plus it was bought through a 3rd party.
Anyway I am going to buy something bigger and better. I need to be able to watch tv/dvd/divx about 50% of the time, and the rest playing games and browsing. Would be planning to use a 360 and a Nintendo Wii on it as well. 360 most likely through vga cable and Wii through component 480p cable assuming ninty do not cut off the component outputs on the pal versions.
Torn between the Dell 2407 or the cheaper Samsung 21" 215TW. Have the money for either but wondering
1. if the extra 3 inches over the Samsung is worth the price of entry for the Dell.
2. The 2407 cannot do 1080p through dvi over the scalar chip and drops it down to 720p. So besides the obvious advantage of higher resolution on your windows desktop is their any other advantage to 1920 res. You can't watch hddvd's or blueray at 1080p over the scalar chip, and newer games will run slower at native res, unless you keep upgrading your video card.
3. The Samsung while smaller, looks like a better response time (8ms), and with a lower res will handle games better. Is 1680 the sweet spot. And playing hddvd is a non issue as neither screen supports 1080p. I know its missing usb ports which I can get over.
4. From what I can tell the Samsung does not have banding issues. Does the Dell still have banding in desktop mode. Or was it more or less fixed in this mode like on the 2007 ?
Oh..and I am not waiting for the BenQ FP24 which I know is probably what would be best. Need to order fast.

, for a bit more than it costs for 1x 2407wfp too, so more value and extra space. But if you just want one larger monitor i guess the 24" is the better choice, or wait for the BenQ 24" which just keeps getting delayed lol.
