Well I moved to Uni just under one month ago now and one of my house mates brought their Xbox 360 elite. The only problem though is this TV licenses are just under £200 so he didn't bring a TV and neither did anyone else in my house. So he bought a DVI to HDMI cable so he could play the 360 on his monitor the only problem is there is no sound.

I have plugged the speakers into the sound port on the monitor but it just wont send them any sound I believe it's because it's converting HDMI which carries both video and sound to a DVI which is just video. Just wondering if there is anyway to get sound. I noticed there were USB ports on the front and one on the rear of the console do you think it will be possible to get a USB to Audio cable or something along those line.

Thanks for reading :)

well if your mate is using HDMI he's going to have to get his old SD/Component cable and plug that in also, and then use the RED/WHITE RCA from your SD/Component cable and use the RCA to 3.5MM jack to connect it to the monitor.

your best bet would be to use the xbox hd component cable and to get adapters to convert the video to dvi and the audio to 3.5mm jack that way atleast you can connect it to speakers.

After a quick google something simular to a "Sumnique Xbox 360 VGA Component Audio Cable" will do the job but obviously a dvi version?
