Help! 3d rendering program

Anyone know of a really good 3d rendering program for landscapes etc?

Terragen. Or 3D studio max with the Dreamscape plugin.

Max and dreamscape would set you back a couple of k!

I seem to remember from ages ago something called Bryce was pretty cool at generating landscapes - might be worth a Google. I got a copy free on a coverdisk I think.

I'm a big fan of Bryce for basic modelling gubbins, but if you're specifically looking to do landscapes, Terragen is probably the best bet.

Vue would also be worth a look at if you dont mind paying
