I'm not a huge gamer, it's a bit of an impulse buy given the other half is away all weekend, so trying to get an order in early this morning!

I'm using an aw3821dw but do the most of my gaming via series x on the TV. The AW3821DW does have gsync ultimate but I've only ever used it with ATI cards so it'd be nice to go green but could be convinced otherwise.

Playing a mix of old stuff, remasters and potentially ps5/pc exclusives.

Was hoping the prices would come down a lot when the 50 series launched.

Not wanting to go over £400 ideally, but £450 is my absolute limit, been looking at pre-owned but haven't had any luck so going new. Did put an offer in on a 3060Ti for £150 but the sellers gone quiet (elsewhere).

@welshrat 12GB to 16GB worth the extra £90, does take me over budget but may be worth it for longevity?
The 16gb 7800XT would keep you happy for a fair while, personally that would be my choice as it should be more than capable for Sony PS5 ports and RT is good enough to cope with unreal engine type integration. I only mention the 7700Xt as it a very capable card which can be had for £350 (my son has one) but may struggle at the res of that monitor (3840x1600) ?
