Hi , ive got my home theater set up connected to my pc's graphic via HDMI (ATI 6950) so if i play music or a film on my pc we can view it on the plasma screen , ive got my headset connected direct to the onboard sound on the mobo for gaming and pc use

my problem is i can only ever transmit sound through the pc headphones OR the TV , i can never transmit through both at the same time, is there a way to transmit sound through both on my current set up ?

MSI GD80 mobo
ATI 6950
win 7 home

thanks :)

I believe Windows 7 doesn't natively support simultaneous outputs from multiple audio devices. Which really sucks.

No, Windows can only use one default device at any one time. The only way you can get it to work, is if you use software that will allow you to set an audio device independent of the system default.

Depending on what software you use for media playback, you could set it to use the GFX card HDMI sound, leaving onboard as default for gaming with headphones etc.

is there a way around this with software (as already mention) or extra hardware ? what software would enable this ?

You need to use media software that will allow any sound device to be used. Quite a few media players allow this. XBMC, MediaMonkey, Winamp, KMPlayer. Many more too.

Not sure if WMP allows it. I don't use WMP, so I've not tried it.
