Help a newb with LinuxMCE

Hi guys,

Newbish of me, but only just getting into this. I've downloaded LinuxMCE (based on Kubuntu).

Its going in a E8500 Intel board (G45). It installs fine but then doesnt boot past the AVWizard. A box pops up called AVWizard, and in it it says "Failed to Setup X" with an OK which can't be pressed.

I googled and it said try installing through VGA rather than HDMI, so I tried that and the same error came up.

Any ideas how to solve??

You've probably got version 0710, based on Ubuntu 7.10. Built-in support for Intel G45 didn't come to Ubuntu until 8.10, so I'd imagine that getting it to work is not going to be much fun for you.

LinuxMCE 0810 is in alpha stage now (just in time to get outdated again ) and should probably work better on that hardware, assuming that it's stable enough to use.

Perhaps you might also like to try MythBuntu 8.10. It should work with your hardware and offers similar functionality.

you could look into XBMC & elissa media centre as well!!!!!
