Like someone already mentioned, there is discounts available through uni's etc. Other than that, I'm afraid your going to have to shell out for it. There is no such thing as cheap windows I'm afraid.

got everything set up and working except 1 thing.. I cant connect the bloody internet!!!

I am using a homeplug, which I have tested on my laptop etc and it works fine. I have installed the drivers onto My desktop so I dont think this is the problem.
I have a Sky router and I can connect fine to it wirelessly through this laptop, however when I try to connect to it through the homeplug on my PC the connection just fluxuates so badly that I can't even load web pages etc..
Any help would be awsome as what use is a gaming PC with no internet?! I have Win7 64bit installed, could this be the case? I have 32bit on all the other PC's in my house

I was just browsing through this thread and have nothing useful to add.

Then I noticed stulid's post count and join date and thought holy mother!

^ very useful post. Thanks. Lol.

Glad to hear you got this up and running.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the internet or from the cd? If the latter, download them to a usb stick and try those. May need a reboot on installation.

Do the above then try connecting to the router with an Ethernet RJ45 Cat5 cable.

What wireless card are you using in the desktop? Or are you using a wireless usb adapter? Make sure their respective drivers are installed. (again get the latest from the manufacturers website and download to usb stick, the reboot).

Don't know a lot about home plugs
