Hi,

I'm attempting to fit an airport wireless card to a very expensive Mac Pro. If it was a PC I'd have a no problem taking the thing apart, but as I've never taken a Mac apart I'm a bit hesitant.

I can see where the card fits and where the two tiny screws fits but it's just impossible to get at the thing due to the power supply - and I can't see how this can be removed? If the power supply kind of wasn't there I could easily fit it :)

Is it a huge job?

I struggled really badly with mine, I managed to get the card in but getting the aerial connectors on was really difficult. I did manage it in the end but I was pretty concerned about damaging the connectors.

It's not massivley complex but does need a fair bit of work. Try this!

for future http://support.apple.com/manuals/#macpro_diy no the wireless is not there..

they are akward yes but like anything simple logic and dont rush, also the card slot is spring loaded so hold it in place as you tighten the screws VERY small screwdriver get a proper set not cheapo's they are well worth it for any such jobs the connectors for antenna need a lot of force more than youd expect but it dont matter which way round they go on...

if your not sure your other option just use a router on lan cable and bridge mode..

oh just found a photo guide for you....http://meanderingpassage.com/2007/0...-an-airport-extreme-card-in-an-intel-mac-pro/ if link is against rules please delete..

and like all good things beaten to it.... congrats LordSplodge...

Yer that's the guide I found too, although this must be a newer mac pro as the card is in the bottom left now.

It's easy to actually fit, but just incredablly hard without removing the powersupply - something I don't particularyl want to do as I've never messed about with the innards of a mac.
