Figured I would start a thread here so that I didn't distract from the offer thread ....so! I have one of the GTX 670 PE cards that was on offer here and I know that you can get a good bit of extra performance out of these cards.

So if anyone could advise me on what to do it would be great, thus far I haven't tried to add anything as the numbers are all set at 0 rather than being at their current stock values.

Also the Core Voltage is greyed out, so I assume I can't change that, but then I'm curious as to what triple voltage means on the front of the box?

Dave.

First of all what version of msi afterburner do you have? I've got 3.0.0 beta 11 there is a box in settings to allow voltage control

I've got 2.3.1, but having looked in the settings there is an option to unlock voltage control, and from that there is a drop down so that I can see Core Voltage, Memory Voltage and Aux Voltage, or I can just stick to Core Voltage.

cool there you go, being a power edition card you have the ability to adjust all three, the choice is yours, im not 100% sure what the aux one does, the other two are pretty straight forward

Ah ok so that makes sense as to the 3 settings. Unfortunately the voltage changes along with adjusting all the others makes no sense to me at all. Is there a guide to nudging one...testing...nudging another etc...?

I thought these were voltage locked?

Maybe to a limit, but someone mentioned that msi bypassed that and NVidia were not happy about it???

I've got the option to add 100mv to the core, I don't think I could do that on my previous 670's?

Doesn't appear to be the case for me..

I dont really know! I was just under the impression from other threads that voltage was only unlocked on the lightning editions as everyone was raving about flashing their bios on the 680 to a lightning so they could adjust the voltage.

Also on top of this, why does the Memory only clock at 1502MHz stock, shouldn't it be something like 3000Mhz, which is then doubled to give the 6008MHz effective?

Ok mine boosts to 1150 in Valley/Heaven/3d Mark.

I dont really understand the boost bit. How do i go about overclocking it? Do i do everything as normal and let the GPU work out the boost ( ive overclocked my GTX 480 but i have never had a card with boost before!)

From what I understand, there is a boost that occurs incrementally in blocks of 13MHz, up to a maximum of 324MHz, but only providing that the temp is below 70c. Once it hits that it eases off in blocks of 13MHz to make the temp drop down.

This is done on top of any manual overclocking provided there isn't too much power draw, or the temp is too high....I think.

I've got a guide from another site that lists it all in epic detail, but states it'll take me 3 hours to do it fully so I didn't bother for this evening.

If you Google this: ~~The GTX 670 Overclocking Master-Guide~~ it should give you some interesting reading.

I think the only thing I've found this evening with regards to overclocking is that the voltage can really damage/shorten the lifespan of a card, which makes me reluctant to push it too hard, or even mess with the voltage settings at all really!
