Hi All,
If anyone could throw some advice my way with the below, i would be ever grateful.
I currently have a GTX 1080 Wind force GPU - i was thinking of getting an upgrade to be able to play games a high graphics etc.
I have a budget of £1000 - however this needs to include a water block (any make i guess)

Does anyone have an ideas on A if i should upgrade and B what i should be looking for?
I dont mind AMD or Nvidia i guess.

Thanks

Not the best time to buy right now, but roughly: a 4070 non-Super or 7800 XT are around twice as fast as the 1080 and cost £450-£500. They would be a decent choice to make 1440p playable in modern games.

A 7900 XT or 4070 Ti Super are about 30% faster than the 4070 non-Super or 7800 XT and what I'd consider the first cards for 4K gaming, though lesser models can do it with DLSS/FSR or in older games.

with that budget I would wait few more months as new cards are about to be released soon and you will get much more for your money in terms of performance. If you can't wait then I agree with the post above me 7900xt, 7900xtx, 4080, 4070Ti something along these lines as long as your not CPU bottle necked.

Where does the 7900gre slot in a couple of months ago these were the better value ones, but not heard of them being mentioned anymore.

Yeah, the reason I mention them less is because:
1. The 4070 non-Super/7800 XT have come down to around £450 and the 7900 GRE crept up to £550, while it was more like... £20-£50 difference before, which made the GRE a no brainer.
2. The 7900 XT has come down near to £600-£650.

AHH I see makes sense. Thanks :)

Second hand 6800XT? should be able to pick one up pretty cheap, plays 1440p most games maxed out other than cyberpunk and stuff like that.

Whats the rest of your PC spec, and monitor spec?
