Help a nOOb

Hi folks, i was wondering if anyone could help me?
Over the past few weeks my comp has been randomly freezing whilst using vista. Now i thought this was a vista only problem because i never had any grief whatsoever when i use xp(dual Boot) i came home tonight turned the comp on and it froze after 10 mins so after numerous restarts and freeze up's i thought.....Back to xp then, but then i suffered lock ups with xp aswell, and it froze up at the boot screen, and on the memtest and even in safe mode, so could i have a hardware fault? ram maybe?

Could be a number of things. RAM is a strong possibility. GFX is also an option as is a PSU about to die.

Everything is brand new........... well a month old at least

Brand new hardware can be faulty, even after 1 month PSU's can suddenly die etc.

doesnt mean that something can't die say from heat failure or general incompatabililty. Remove one stick of RAM and try again with XP see how you get on.

Took both my sticks out for a quick check, noticed that one of them looks a little shabby its like the casing underneath the orange heatspreader is a little warped is this normal?

When i say warped it looks more as if heat had got to it and it's started to melt slightly and im runnin my vista right now been about 15-20 mins no freeze ups

Think my ram is ok, Tried both the sticks seemed fine, what i did notice was when i slot any of the sticks into Dimm A1 it locks up, but they both run fine in Dimm B1, i've not tried them together yet in A2+B2 but will tomoro, i also took a look at the qvl list for my motherboard and realised Geil Wasn't on it, dunno if that makes a difference, anyways guys, thanks for the advice

Tried my ram in slots A2+B2 Experienced a freeze up at post, any ideas?

Hey folks, just ran Pc probe and it gave me a voltage warning... 1.2VHT is sitting at 1.52v i was wondering if this could have anything to do with my ram trouble??? if anyone has any ideas......it's beers all round, oh and should i disable linkboost in bios?
